Storyboards
Working together in our group to create the storyboards. My partner drew simple yet effective images and i wrote the detailed description of each shot.
Location Shots
All images are of locations we used in our final music video. We have included images of the river, woods and clearings in the forest. These are the three main locations for our music video.

"Looking back at the preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt from the progression of it to the full production?"
-i have a learnt a lot in the way of researching magazine styles. I have never been a big magazine reader and therefore I was able to appreciate the lengthy detail that goes towards making it. Manipulating text, I believe has been a key improvement for me. My preliminary task of a school magazine incorporated little and basic variety in text in the form of font and content. However, I improved on this in my full production as I used different fronts in varying sizes to appeal to more people and make the magazine appear more interesting. Like I mentioned in earlier questions I have gained further knowledge and experience in photoshop, but I have also learnt to appreciate my work and how to respond to critical feedback. I am pleased with my magazine pages and I feel that they could be seen on a magazine shelf. However, not appearing complacent as I reconise that there may still be some elements to improve on, but based on the many hours spent on this project I believe that I have learnt a lot from the beginning to the final result, also in the form of organisation and self discipline when it comes to work ethics.

-Whilst making the magazine I have become a lot more confident in photoshop. Although I have had a lot of previous experience in the program which was a large benefit when making my magazine pages, I still managed to gain skills in text manipulation and editing. I initially planned to make my contents page on the program “pages” which is similar to that of “Publisher” however, I resulted to
“photoshop” in the end as I didn’t like the layout restraints that were in place. If I have an idea, I like to create that idea without the boundaries restricting it on “pages” and therefore I found “photoshop” efficient for my ideas. Because I planned my magazine first, starting from a blank template didn’t seem daunting and I was able to use “photoshop” to carefully crop colours and people from images, change background colours, enhance the contrast and curves of photos which leads to creating different processing effects, and finally, replace different colours to black and white images. I was also aware of taking effective photos to begin with, ensuring that the aperture settings were correct on the camera so I could enable a shallow depth of field when taking the close up for my contents page. The shallow depth of field allows a sharper foreground, so detail is observed in facial features, yet a blurry background, which helps to addi a professional feel to the magazine. I have become more aware of other software and websites, by incorporating a powerpoint in my blog I needed to transfer the exported PDF file to “slidesharer” to embed it within my final pages. Thankfully “slide sharer” was not a hard concept to grasp, however because I made my slideshow on a program that isn’t supported by “slidesharer” called “Keynotes” I was unable to initially upload it. I changed the file type to a powerpoint document, but the layout of the pages moved which changed the font type and moved photos around. Thankfully “Slidesharer” supports PDF files, so in the end I was able to export my slideshow and upload it successfully to my blog. Lastly I have learnt how to upload text and images to “blogger.com” as well as embodying my “slideshare” document.

" How did you attract/ address your target audience?"
Although being aimed at a relatively small age group, I feel that the language and articles within the magazine (using my double page spread interview as an example) would appeal greatly to the younger generations, as it includes elements of gossip magazines which may not invite readers of older generations. The bright colour scheme and high contrasting images entices the younger readers along with promotion and free prizes to be won, adding a further idea of getting more for your money. I used images and articles and the latest singers which would also allure the target audience as it focuses on their key interest of upcoming artists. I have used clear yet modern looking fonts, this enables to readers to stay focused on the articles written, however using large and clear headlines and side lines, I am able to attract the reader to other sections of the magazine. The double page spread appears fashionable due to the black and white contrasting with slight details of colour, and the idea of using a quote as the headline invites the audience to read further into the article.

"Who would be the audience for your product?"
As mentioned, my magazine is focused at the pop culture, and therefore the target audience would be between early teens and late twenties. Those interested in the latest music in the charts who enjoy keeping updated on contemporary music would be invited towards this magazine as it has a wide circle of influence under it’s genre.

" What kind of media institution might distribute your music magazine and why?"
- I think my magazine would be distributed by a large multinational company. “Vibe” was co founded by ‘Time Inc.’ and I think that would be an effective media institution which may distribute the magazine. Because it is a subsidiary of ‘Time Warner,” the large scale corporation will be able to promote and market the magazine effectively. The genre of the magazine enables a large audience and will promote itself in some respects, however ‘Time Inc‘ which already distributes popular magazines such as “NME” and “Marie Claire” do not yet distribute a pop music magazine and may benefit largely from doing so.

"How does your music magazine represent different social groups?"
Because my magazine is mainly aimed at the pop culture due to the specific genre of the magazine, it is hard to say that it represents a large variety of social groups. However, this being said, pop is a large genre as it can relate to most of the modern contemporary music in this charts at the moment, and therefore includes a large group. This genre is portrayed through the font and imagery used in my magazine. The modern style from the image also invites social groups from an aesthetic view as opposed to the main contents of the magazine. The contents of my magazine relates to a larger social group due to the promotions and discounts announced, therefore attracting a larger audience.

"In what ways does your music magazine use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real music magazines?"
-Before creating the magazine I read and researched many genres of music magazines to acknowledge and understand the main changes within them whilst appreciating the similarities and techniques used within the particular style of magazine. The magazine I believe that relates to mine effectively is “Vibe” as mine follows many of the same conventions. For the front cover I have a single singer as the main image in mid shot on the front cover, shadowed text for headlines and side bars, a hidden masthead (covered by the main image) and mainly a specific colour scheme which runs throughout the page. My chosen colours are turquoise and pink as I believe them to fit the ideals of the target audience, however “Vibe” includes peach and blue.
I used a narrow font like most magazine mastheads, as I believe it is more aesthetically pleasing and suits the style well, therefore my choice was the downloaded font Macropsia BAK, as I feel that, whilst being a narrow font, it also adds some style to the magazine cover.
The positioning of my text and images, greatly follows the conventions perceived by “Vibe” and the mise-en-scene conveyed in my image from no eye contact between the model and reader does not draw them away, because she is looking towards the text it invites the reader to the headlines as opposed to directly to the eyes of the image.
However, similarly to most styles of magazines, I made sure to include anchor lines, buzz words and a bar code to fill the typical conventions of a magazine.
